Easy Pack Bedding

  • How many bales will I need to make a bed?   

    For an average 12 / 14 box it will take around 6 – 8 bales of either Easy Pack Miscanthus or Chopped Straw to make a traditional bed with banks.  This will vary slightly depending on the size of your stable and depth of bedding required. 

  • I have a horse with a respiratory condition which bedding should I use?   

    Both Easy Pack Miscanthus and Chopped Straw are dust extracted great for any horse but in particular the animal with a respiratory complaint.  Additionally, Easy Pack Miscanthus coarse durable texture is naturally very low in dust.  Easy Pack Chopped Straw is also treated with oils to not only deter the horse from eating the bed but also for its benefits to the respiratory system.

  • Will my horse eat his bed?   

    Although we can never guarantee that your horse won’t try the bedding we can be confident that he will not like it.  Easy Pack Miscanthus has a coarse texture which is very unattractive and unpalatable to horses.  Easy Pack Chopped Straw is treated to a coat of eucalyptus oil, which creates a pleasant smell aroma great for the respiratory system but bitter to taste.  If your horse is continually eating his bedding it is likely that he is not receiving enough fibre in his diet and is trying to satisfy his appetite elsewhere.  Easy Pack Haylage is a highly nutritious forage feed, full of fibre to keep your horse satisfied for longer.  Feed around 2% of your horse’s body weight to satisfy his appetite and spread this ration throughout the day to keep him entertained. 

  • I have rubber matting in my stable; can I still use Easy Pack bedding?   

    Both Easy Packs Miscanthus and Chopped Straw are great when used in combination with rubber matting.  Miscanthus can absorbed up to three times its own weight in liquid and locks in odours making it an excellent choice for the wetter stable.

  • Will it stain my horse’s coat?   

    Easy Pack Beddings are not treated with any chemicals and unlike wood products do not contain any sap.  The Chopped Straw is sprayed with Eucalyptus but this should not transfer or discolour your horse’s coat.  

  • Will it rot down quickly?   

    Easy Pack Beddings are very bio-degradable making them incredible quick to rot down, saving you time and money on muck heap removal.  You can also spread Easy Pack Beddings straight onto your land as a natural fertilizer.
